"REVENUE" SAFELY CAPTURED BY OWNER AFTER 12.5 HOURS ON THE RUN

SEEMS TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE AND OFF TO THE VET FOR A CHECK-UP

What Happened
* A friendly 7yo black male named "" with blue collar and tags escaped a broken fence gate around 6:25 pm (all times in these posts are Central Daylight Time) on the east side of the city (east of Interstate 39-90) near Tydl & Lyndhurst Drives.

What Was Done
* Owner searched with neighbors, called the hotline and notified authorities.
* Owner and several volunteers searched the area and contacted passersby through nightfall.
* A couple dozen flyers were posted in the immediate neighborhood near where the dog was seen in the first half hour after his escape on Tuesday.
* Owner and volunteers responded to two sightings in the 9pm and 10pm hours Tuesday. At least one volunteer saw the dog, but the dog ducked out of sight and didn't come to the quickly-arriving owner.
* More flyers were placed Wednesday in response to Tuesday's sightings and possible directions.
* An area resident saw a flyer Wednesday afternoon, causing him to call and report having seen Revenue in his driveway more than six hours earlier.
* Owner responded to the location to find Revenue still hanging around and willing to hop in the car.

What's Next and How to Help
* The same flyer-posting teams should be able to quickly un-do this work, so we're not asking for help pulling flyers this time.

The has been and will continue to be updated - as is our custom, so that someone going to that page will see the most current synopsis.

Thank you to those who so quickly came to Revenue's aid tonight: Carrie N, Jim & Rebecca L, Lisa A, Jim R, Renee, Melanie S, Jessica & Joe L and Sarah & Mike G - plus the Good Samaritans who twice saw and reported Revenue and shared much time with us as we looked.

Although we did not come home with Revenue, lots of contacts were made and flyers posted. So that work should position us well tonight and into the morning. We're safely taking the right steps and quickly seeing evidence of success in that people know we're missing a dog and have already called.

We will keep working.

FLYERING BRIEFING

Our job is to get Revenue home without injury to any person, animal, or damage to any property. So please observe all of the following:

• Work safely and respect private property.

• Remember that volunteers are not extremely likely to see Revenue personally, so we need to post flyers and hand out our number so when someone else sees him, s/he knows where to call.

• Work with a partner whenever possible, watching each other's back for traffic or other hazards.

• Wear appropriate clothing - safe footwear, bright outerwear, etc. High-visibility clothing is encouraged even though we don't want anyone standing in the road.

• Please do not bring additional dogs. Another dog might help attract Revenue once he's located -- but risks of having additional dogs in the field might outweigh the benefits. Anyone with a dog along needs to take special care of it with the weather, car travel, etc. We can whistle up a volunteer and dog, if needed.

• Having a leash and collar along never hurts.

• Please do bring any tools/supplies you have handy; particularly stapleguns and staples and clear packing tape.

• Make a flyer visible in your vehicle window wherever it doesn't block vision; this will help other volunteers and public recognize your connection with this project.

• Post flyers (or fix existing ones) where they are easily visible to stopped or slow-moving traffic, or pedestrians. Staple all four corners, avoiding trees and not obscuring any signs or reflective materials. Protect flyers from weather with a plastic page protector placed upside-down so the opening is at the bottom.

• Do not post flyers on private property without permission. If you secure permission and post somewhere private, please let us know (gpa.wi.llf@gmail.com) so we can add it to the notification list and check off its removal later.

• DO NOT PLACE FLYERS IN OR ATTACH THEM IN ANY WAY TO A U.S. POSTAL MAILBOX. A number of neighborhood mailboxes have attached or nearby newspaper slots, which can be tried if a flyer seems like it won't blow away.

• DO NOT TAPE FLYERS TO PAINTED SURFACES SUCH AS CITY SIGNPOSTS OR STREETLAMPS. We can brief some tricks to get flyers in these spots without doing any damage. We've mainly seen good flyering targets: brushed metal light poles, bare metal signposts, wooden utility poles and 4x6 or 4x4 wodden highway sign posts.

• Give the hotline phone number (business card-sized slips can be printed from the website) to anyone personally contacted. Please thank all persons contacted, and assure them that all flyers will be removed.

• Call the number on the flyer if you see Revenue, if you see an unsafe situation, or you have anything else to report.

• If you see Revenue, go ahead and secure him if he approaches. If Revenue won't approach, do not chase him. Revenue has already twice disappeared with his owner just a few seconds away. Please: watch for danger, hold a perimeter, and call the hotline so we can line up a safe capture attempt. Responding volunteers may be asked to dial into a conference call to coordinate efforts if wider-area communications are needed.

Please check in and out of the area with us so we know who's where and can tell you where supplies are located: Texts are preferred at 414-301-2599, but we're grateful for your help and voice calls are okay, too. The has information on where we need help, and by checking in we can make sure we're covering what we need in the order we need it.

updated to report and summarize that:

REVENUE WAS SAFELY CAPTURED AROUND 1PM WEDNESDAY.

The owner had been right back out this morning, followed by Melanie S & Marla V (who probably posted the flyer today's witness saw). We also had check-ins from Jessica & Joe L, Lisa A, Phyllis S, Derrick H -- all ready to travel wherever needed to help a hound and fellow adopter.

Amazing people -- thanks, all!

It has been a while since I have posted to the forum. I didn't want the time to slip further away without taking the time to express my gratitude to Rich and Laurel, Joe and Jessica, and all of the MANY volunteers that help to locate my very sweet old man, Revenue on July 3, 2019. I have been a part of this wonderful organization for almost 20 years, and this is the first experience I ever had with losing a greyhound and having to call for help. The way you all mobilized so quickly, were so selfless of your time and efforts, and the support you gave to me touched my heart greatly. I wish I could personally thank each and every one of you for everything you did in bringing my dear buddy back home.

Revvie is doing fine now, he is back to his normal self, and is the goofy, zoomy, sweet boy he has always been.

Thank you all for doing everything that you do each and every day for these wonderful hounds!

David

We're all just glad he was found relatively quickly and is back safe and sound at home, where he belongs. I think this is the worst fear for all of us greyhound lovers. :love
