To all my Greyhound friends,

It is with great sadness that I let you know we lost our beautiful Maria 2 months ago. We had made a decision prior that she would be our last greyhound. We spent many hours and tears coming to the decision. We are both getting old and was so difficult lifting a 70lb dog in and out of the van. She was so sick the last week and had lost all bodily control. Our vets are wonderful and have come to the house on occasion. We would love to have another and it breaks our heart not to. We have had a dog in our home the last 51 years and lasted 2 months before we adopted Lizzie. She is from Houston and has had a horrible life. She was rescued from a high kill shelter by Lola's Lucky Day who works with Paddy's Paws in Fort Atkinson. She is approximately 7 years old and probably Maltese/Poodle mix. When found she was so matted the vet didn't know if she was a boy or girl. As he started shaving her he found an eyeball in the matting. Her front leg had also been broken and healed improperly. She needed someone to love and spoil her. So now we have a 10lb almost toothless, one eyed limping dog who is a love bug.

Greyhounds will always have a special place in our hearts and I just wanted everyone to know why we have not been around.
