I realize this forum is pretty much dead, but I don't do Facebook, so if someone feels it's worth sharing there please do so:
I recently discovered the website, , has added a feature which is essentially a mini website for each hound in their database. It includes a Retirement tab, and if you register on the site and get verified you can add text and photos, even video, about your retired hound.
Here's my big guy's page, as an example: Some comments: And some photos:
After I added my updates I noticed the admins updated his pedigree page to note his date of passing along with a nice bereavement message based on one of my comments:
Two important things to note up front: 1) The website is focused on dog racing so if you have strong feelings about racing it would be best to avoid this site 2) Verification requires you to submit a scan of an ID. If this makes you nervous you won't be able to post anything on the site. See point #1 above. Racing is controversial so this is how they keep control of things.
They also now have a Forum that includes a Retirement discussion board. There are quite a few racing owners from around the world that are curious to know where their dogs ended up, are sharing positive re-homing stories or are supporting positive outcomes in general. Again, for those who can put strong feelings aside there's some opportunity to gain insight and build bridges.
